Abstract

Among the libraries of research institutions of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RI SB RAS) only 29 of 70 are members of any corporate library system. A survey of these libraries staff has identified the following issues that prevent them from working within corporate library systems: absence of electronic catalog in libraries related to lack of funding to purchase automated library information systems (ALIS), using various ALIS, different quality and uniformity missing of electronic catalogue records. The author suggests possible ways to solve these problems: transition to automated system IRBIS for libraries that work in other ALIS, joining IRBIS-Corporation, using cloud technology to embed information resources of the library.

In the context of activity in library corporations, participating libraries afford their electronic catalog into the union catalogue; implement technology of corporate catalogization, interlibrary loan and electronic document delivery; solve problems of information services of users applying the corporative product. However, to resolve the whole complex of problems some libraries have to participate in several corporate systems. For effective corporate interaction libraries need a unified library corporate system combining all libraries of SB RAS’ research institutions and providing solutions to all complex problems.

Abstract

A modern specialist of library-information work should quickly solve extraordinary information problem, professionally carry out expert-consulting, research, design and creative activity. To implement the above mentioned tasks library-information institutions need to attract young creative professionals who have special training.

Dissertations defended for the last 10 years in Russia were analyzed in order to clarify the research development trends on the problems of young generation professional orientation. Analysis of dissertations e-library collection revealed 183 works on relevant topics, 77% of which were devoted to pedagogical specialties.

Kemerovo State Institute of Culture trains unique professionals at the Department of Automated Information Processing Technologies (DAIPT) at specialty «Library-Information Activities», profile «Technology of Automated LibraryInformation Systems». The uniqueness of these specialists is determined by a wide humanitarian education, integration of their training in the field of library-information technologies and resources, information-analytical technologies with acquiring modern software and hardware, information-communication technologies. To attract students to this training direction DAIPT’s lecturers have developed forms of using information-communication technology in vocational guidance competitions for schoolchildren. To interact with contestants interactive forms are applied that allow activating participants and organizers joint activity. Competitive events are held both internally and in absentia.

Thus, studied theses and the experience of holding vocational guidance competitions among schoolchildren show that there is the necessity to develop science-based approaches to implementation of career-oriented work by higher education institutions in the field of information-library activities using modern interactive forms that activate the conscious activity of pupils.

Abstract

The article represents two methods of estimating publication citations based on information-analytical systems «Map of Russian science» (IAS MRS) using analytical tools of this system to evaluate research significance of scientists. These techniques are advisory in nature and exemplified by two researchers, who publish the most actively in journal «Scientific and Technical Libraries». They can only be used for the analysis of citation of verified scientists in IAS MRS. The paper gives a comparison with the IAS Russian Science Citation Index. The advantage of the first technique is obtaining data to study the researcher profile in detail. The bibliometric analysis of an individual approach, in contrast to the comparative approach of the second technique is not directed to get the characteristics of «more, less, equal», but to study bibliographic information about publications obtaining not quantitative but qualitative data.

The comparative-analytical method has a statistical character showing a quantitative picture, which is the information basis for further bibliometric analysis and getting new qualitative results.
