Information and communication readiness of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) to use electronic resources and services on corporate cataloguing of libraries

Abstract

This article analyzes the dynamics of corporate cataloging development in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and describes the results of the research «Creating the cultural environment of the region on the basis of cultural institutions modernization and implementing information and communication technologies», conducted in 2012. Special attention is paid to information regions' readiness to transforming to information society, and in particular the substantial upgrading of libraries in the region, in most of which corporate cataloging is functioning. The paper presents statistics illustrating regulatory support of the branch informatization, financing, professional development of specialists. The corporate cataloging prospects dependent not only on government support, but also on the private partnership are marked.
